Renate Van Nijen

Renate is a Dutch professional artist who creates oil and acrylic paintings, ceramic statues, inspirational mandalas. Renate also writes colourful stories.

She received her art-education in New Zealand and has developed herself further by working with established professional artists in The Netherlands and Italy where she lived and worked for 5 years. Renate has lived in Spain since October 2003. She has had many exhibitions of her work, in places including Paris, Rome and Amsterdam. Her work has been purchased by people from Moscow to New York.

Renate does not use live models, but is inspired by coincidentally passing people altered into models. Each work a story and each story an artwork in itself which not necessarily has to be recognized by the viewer. She likes the observer to recognise their own story in her artwork so that it can blend in with their lives. The red moon in many of Renate’s paintings represents the Goddess Isis, symbol for female intuition and creativity. Renate works intuitively and from her personal emotions which she shares with the public, without wanting to be intrusive.
